Fall Into Khaki: Dockers Fall Winter 2013/2014

Okay this is from awhile ago. I was at the unveiling of Dockers Fall Winter 2013/2014 Collection. I took a personal day off that day because I was dealing with a little bit too much of crap at work. Aren't we all do? So I decided to go see my doctor, get my prescriptions and focus on finishing all my pending articles as well as my blog entries-- especially all the paid ones.

All that aside, Dockers collection for the season is all about outdoor and active lifestyle. These are words that you can't really use to describe me because I don't hike, I prefer to walk in shopping malls and I have recently taking up the habit of staying in bed all day on Sunday. So I guess that happens after you reached 30...

But I would totally wear all the pieces from this collection-- separately of course. I love the turtle-neck, button-downs and of course the bulky hiking boots that I can tuck my jeans into.

Party duo Asnie (she took all the photos I'm using for this entry) and Aida were there along with Amanda who were the emcee of the night with Daphne Iking. I met Amanda once at Stuff magazine anniversary but forgot to ask her name even though we were dancing the night away like we've known each others for years.

Oh look at Daphne!

Dockers only have two or three events yearly but they always make sure each of them are worth the wait. I'm a bit fussy about going out these days. It takes a lot more than champagne and posh restaurants to drag me out of the house.

But that night, I was actually the last to leave the party along with Aric and Amanda who had to take an early flight to Vietnam (or was it Myanmar?) the next morning.

I'm so looking forward to the next collection from Dockers---and the fab party that they're gonna throw along with it!

Miss-leading

Me and my friend Irene Tan, Miss Petite World 2013

In the wake of controversy and all the broo-haha surrounding Miss Malaysia World 2013, I decided to let them all do the talking and not say a word. Unlike my friend Yusof of the blog Pageant Island (he's an expert), I know next to nothing about beauty pageant. Well I've been to quite a number of finals these past few years and I've been very fortunate enough to make friends with some of the winners and participants but if you ask me, I spend none of my time thinking about it. Just sayin'...

So I guess it's not that big of a deal. Muslim girls are not allowed to enter any major beauty pageant because of the swimsuit round which doesn't resonate well with the religion but could be considered as the crucial part of the competition. It makes a lot of sense for Muslim girls to "assume" that they are able try out this year when Indonesia (the host of soon-to-be-held final competition) cancelled the swimsuit round for pretty much the same reason (protest from religious groups, being a Muslim country bla bla bla).

Unfortunately, that didn't happen. All four Muslim girls who made the final round had to withdraw from the competition. The final was held last night and saw gorgeous Punjab girl, Melinder Bhullar took home the coveted title of Miss Malaysia World 2013.

I wasn't there but from the photos that I saw on Facebook, they decided to go on with the swimsuit round anyway since there were no Muslim participants in the final last night..

Oh well...

Baci's Cake It Forward

After all the glorious success, blossoming career and seemingly unending good fortune that you've had so far this year, why not give something back to the society this festive season? Well there's no actual time limit or special occasion for charity but festive seasons like Hari Raya Aidilfitri make it even more significant. Think of it as some kind of reminder for all of us, so that we won't forget the less fortunate like those kids at the orphanage, the disabled and old folks left abandoned by their own children for whatever reason...which is really sad...

Baci Italian Cafe

For the kids-- Rainbow cake, Tartufo, Banana Layer, Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie & Red Velvet

Baci Italian Cafe has taken the initiative to launch "Cake It Forward" to reach out to these orphans and the underprivileged. The concept is pretty simple. We can easily contribute-- atop our total bill, one slice of cake which will go towards a pool. Cakes purchased from 10th July until 10th August will be collected and delivered to House of Joy in Puchong and Telaga Kasih Nur Muhammad in Kota Damansara at the beginning of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Not only that, Baci will send you updates with notes and pictures of the kids enjoying their cakes, as a show of appreciation for your do-good contribution.

Aside from "Cake It Forward", you should also head on to Baci this month for their free-flow of desserts, coffee and tea from 6.30pm until 9pm daily at only RM9.90 with a purchase of an entree.

Baci Italian Cafe is located at Citta Mall, Ara Damansara. For more info, check out www.baci.com.my or www.facebook.com/baci.my Read more!
