Valentine's Day From A Distance

Long distance relationship sucks especially right now when it is Valentine’s Day and I can’t even figure out a way to send over flowers or at least a box of chocolate. But then I realized I can do more than that. I'm a writer. I can gather beautiful thoughts about us, put them into words and write something (hopefully) beautiful enough to pass as Valentine’s Day poetry. Carrie did it once for a newly-wed as a gift on their wedding day. It went awry because Big ruined the moment. But this is not a fiction and I'm going to give it a shot.

So here I go…

Distance

You are the first and last thing on my mind
The anticipation of a new day
The glorious blue moon in the middle of the night

Each time I look at you...
and you smile at me,
I promise I'll swim across the sea...
because right next to you is where I want to be

In your eyes...
I found love
So pure
Stronger than this painful distance that we endure…

When I'm with you
It all seems so clear
From here on now and forever
There is just no other way...
but to have you near…
